Our Story

Brewmaster Steve Cavan began the brew kit business in 1995 out of a need to supply himself and other homebrewers with foundational brewing supplies; malt, hops and yeast.

Malt, hops and yeast weren’t available locally in Saskatchewan at the time. Steve’s favourite was British ale, so he contacted Paddock Wood, England, hoping to buy hops directly from the local cooperatives. The smallest order they’d accept was for 1000 pounds, and Steve was only using about 5 pounds a year at that time.

Instead, Steve turned to a US supplier who would sell in more reasonable quantities. In 1995, Steve set up a mail-order business supplying other Saskatchewan home brewers with supplies. Paddock Wood Brewing moved to a store-front business in 2000, with Steve replicating any beer his customers asked for and by 2002 was officially retailing beer across the province.

25 years later we are keeping with this legacy, providing our Ready Brew wort kits to Saskatchewan home brewers, and guiding brewers through the creation of unique beer.

Our kits include spin-offs of our own brews, as well as original recipes that are only available through our kits. We are happy to work with brewers to design specialized kits so that you can brew the exact flavour you are looking for.
